Weddings are always an exciting event, celebrating the joining of two people’s lives. As an invited guest, family member or friend, the question of what to give the newlyweds may arise alongside the sincere happiness. Many people nowadays take the practical route and either ask for an envelope or write a gift list from which everyone can choose what they would like to give the newlyweds. If we are given a “free hand”, so to speak, when it comes to wedding gifts, it is possible to feel a little lost. What is the ideal way to express our congratulations? A work of art is a gift of a lifetime (and more personal than buying your hundredth blender or coffee machine). An eternal relationship can only be celebrated with an equally eternal gift – and what better way to do that than with a work of art? <\/p>\n
In our previous post (link), we talked about the considerations to take into account when thinking about buying art. The most important aspects are of course the budget available, the size of the artwork, the subject, the colours, etc. <\/p>\n
Space, for example, is particularly important to consider. How big is the apartment the newlyweds live in? Is it worth investing in a large, central piece of art, or is a smaller, tasteful piece that can be easily moved around when moving to a new place? <\/p>\n

When it comes to choosing a theme, paintings and sculptures with a love theme are the most obvious – after all, it is love that we are celebrating. But if it doesn’t fit, you don’t have to stick to patterns. It’s important to choose a piece that best suits the couple: feel free to consult them and involve them in the process! If it’s a surprise, that’s a great idea too. Think about what they would like to do: what are their common interests, what are their favourite activities, do they like to travel? Where are they from or do they have a favourite place? Is there something you would like the sculpture or painting to symbolise? If you happen to make the wrong choice, don’t worry, we have a solution for that too: the picture can be replaced. <\/p>\n

Over time, the money collected from the envelopes runs out, the coffee machine gives up, and the china plates run out due to a misfortunate set-up. A work of art, on the other hand, will last forever. Years later, when we look at it, we can feel that that etching, oil painting or ceramic encapsulates everything that is important – when we look at it, we think not only of the beautiful wedding, but of the time that followed, of a life together, full of love.
