László Gulyás

Born in Budapest in 1960. He graduated from the Secondary School of Fine and Applied Arts, majoring in advertising graphics, and from 1983 to 1987 he studied at the College of Fine Arts, majoring in reproduction graphics.

In addition to the influence of his father, the painter matured his personal pictorial world under the universal influence of Rembrandt's painting, and learned the painting techniques of the great old masters. This is what sets him apart from most of his contemporaries. He is not interested in the eradication of painting, in documenting its agony, but in the continuation of the great tradition. In particular, his paintings of his family, full of life and harmony, show the main values of his emerging talent.

The Hungarian culture has always been credited with professionalism and integrity, respect for tradition and depth. László Gulyás has all these qualities. In our harsh world, it is not only his painterly presentation that can be encouraging, but also the profound humanity of his themes and the loving atmosphere he depicts in his paintings. He often depicts the purity of a child's soul, the thoughtfulness of a beautifully wrinkled face, the cheerful sadness of a clown. In his portraits, he successfully delves into the deeper layers of individuality and character, beyond the external similarities.

He is particularly skilled in the use of light and shadow effects, where he is capable of feats. There is also a painterly beauty in the deliberate juxtaposition of warm and cold colours to create a sense of space. His harmonious colours are complemented by an exceptional line culture, which reveals his training. " (Balázs Feledy, art writer)
