Zoltán Hornyik

I lived in Hajdúszoboszló from 1962, I finished my schooling there. I started my studies in the painting circle of painter Borbála Fekete, then I graduated from the Teacher Training College in Nyíregyháza, majoring in drawing and landscape painting. My teachers were Árpád Bényi and Zoltán Valkovits.

I painted my first oil paintings when I was 14. In college we mainly did drawing along with teaching. After graduation I taught for 4 years and in 1989 I decided to choose painting as my profession.

Around the time of the regime change, galleries started to approach me and started to sell my paintings.

I have had quite a few exhibitions, and my paintings are also included in group shows. A lot of my work has been shown abroad through galleries.

I worked at the free school in Martély every summer from 1987 for about 20 years.

I don't vote for a certain way of expression, a certain manner of painting, a certain way of representation, I prefer to keep that freedom for myself,
to let the picture paint itself, guided by the subject, the mood of the moment, the brush. With my painting I seek harmony in the relationship between man and nature. My paintings have been exhibited in Japan, USA, Israel, China, Netherlands, among others.
