Taras Tobacco

Born in 1965 in Uzhhorod, he was a pupil of Zoltán Bakonyi at the age of 5, who taught him for 10 years until his death. He graduated from the local secondary school of fine arts, then graduated from the Lviv University of Architecture and the Kiev Academy of Arts. In addition to painting, he also worked as a graphic artist and set designer. His paintings are regularly exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Uzhhorod, Kiev, Budapest and Debrecen. Since 1986 he has participated in 100 solo and group exhibitions. Since 1991 he has been a member of the Zichy- a Tájkép- a Vándorfény galleries.
In addition to Hungary, Ukraine and the surrounding countries, his paintings can be found in Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, the Czech Republic, the United States of America, Canada, Israel and Australia.
Through the technique of impressionism, Taras Tabaka's paintings reveal the serenity of nature and the human environment. The strong shapes and the subdued pastel colours convey harmony, the magic and dynamism of nature. His individual style is evident in his landscapes, in his still lifes of the forest, Lake Balaton, the old village environment, and in his still lifes, which almost break the boundaries of oil paintings, as well as in his favourite subjects. By exploiting the possibilities of the material and colour of the oil paintings to the utmost and treating them in an individual way, his paintings are 'energetic', almost 'five-dimensional'. The traditional frames of space and time are supplemented by the artist's imagination, by dropped, 'out-of-place' colours, spatial solutions and composition, and by the receptive audience.
